Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

Dr. Priyanka Roy is a Postdoctoral Associate at the TechQuity Health Lab, where she works at the intersection of medical science and technology to advance equitable, patient-centered, data-driven healthcare solutions. She is committed to bridging the gap between engineering innovation and clinical application, with a strong focus on translating research into real-world impact.

Dr. Roy earned her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Illinois Chicago, where she led the design, development, and clinical validation of a novel diagnostic medical device to aid in the early detection of glaucoma. During her doctoral research, she became deeply interested in leveraging technology to improve quality of life for individuals beyond the early diagnostic stage. To pursue this interest, she completed her first postdoctoral fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University, where her research focused on AR/VR-based assistive technologies - their impact on patient-reported outcomes and potential to augment standardized clinical assessments.

She also holds a master's in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada, specializing in retinal OCT image analysis algorithms. Her research has consistently been supported by competitive research funding, reflecting the translational relevance, rigor, and clinical impact of her work. Through a multidisciplinary approach, she aims to help develop technologies that are not only technically robust but also clinically meaningful and accessible to all.

Outside of her research, she enjoys traveling and exploring diverse cultures and culinary experiences around the world.
