Casey Rand is the Associate Scientific Director of the Techquity Health Lab. A self-proclaimed "data enthusiast" and experience research leader with a passion for building things, Casey’s career has been defined by healthcare innovation. He holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences and an M.S. in Data Science, and his background is a dynamic blend of scientific pursuits: from developing international scientific consortia, to managing multi-site NIH grants and authoring children's science books, to partnering with engineers to develop novel, non-invasive medical devices. While he has taken on this new leadership role to drive equitable technology development , he remains deeply committed to his longstanding work in rare disease, continuing to pursue research initiatives for these unique populations.
Casey leverages his expertise in informatics and technology design to contribute to the lab’s operations and strategic vision. He is focused on working to ensure that new healthcare innovations actually bridge health gaps rather than widening them. Whether he is strategizing new research initiative, developing new grants, or harmonizing complex datasets, Casey is dedicated to creating solutions that work for underserved healthcare communities.
In his downtime, Casey can usually be found getting his cardio in on his Gazelle Glider while watching sci-fi movies and eating popcorn. And yes, that is as dangerous as it sounds.
