Dr. Greg Zapotoczny is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. His work focuses on accelerating the translation of innovative medical technologies into pediatric care through clinical trials, regulatory science, and strategic partnerships.

He directs the Medical Device Clinical Trials Unit (MDCTU), an initiative within the FDA-funded Consortium for Technology & Innovation in Pediatrics (CTIP). In this role, Dr. Zapotoczny develops and implements clinical evidence generation strategies, facilitates FDA interactions, secures research funding, and strengthens investor engagement - critical steps in moving technologies from concept to clinical impact.

Dr. Zapotoczny brings broad expertise in translational science across medical devices, digital health, regenerative medicine, and drug development. This multidisciplinary perspective enables him to identify implementation barriers and design strategies that bridge innovation with clinical adoption.

He earned his PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Southern California. He also holds a Master’s in Regulatory Management from the USC School of Pharmacy, equipping him to integrate scientific innovation with regulatory and operational feasibility. As a member of the Northwestern IRB and an active collaborator across academia, industry, and non-profit sectors, Dr. Zapotoczny is committed to advancing transformative research that improves child health outcomes.
